No thinking, no reflecting,
Perfect
emptiness;
Yet therein something moves,
Following its own course.
- A Taoist Priest
My
work is both spontaneous and deeply personal. With no
pre-conceived notions of
what each piece will be, I simply trust in my eyes and hands
to reflect my current state of mind.
My goal is to share a unique emotional experience with each
new piece.
Kulia
i ka nu'u (Hawaiian)
Translation: Strive for the summit.
Explanation: Strive for the very top of the mountain, strive
for excellence.
I desire
to inspire creativity in others by not depicting specific
images,
people or places in my art. I want those who view my art to
decide what they see on the canvas.
What do the colors and brush strokes I use mean to them,
what does their mind define it as?
By refusing to define my style I leave the door open to
interpretation for the viewer,
pushing them to truly create their own unique relationship
with my art.
Onipa'a
(Hawaiian)
Translation: (Be) steadfast.
Explanation: Take your stand and be steadfast in doing what
is right
no matter what others say.
I try to
show that there are no boundaries; there is no normal, and
that to know good from bad
is only for those that have been taught to think they know
the difference.
Self taught and inspired from within, what you see,
is what I as a person have to offer.
